FACULTY AND STUDENTS
Meal Applications – Meal applications were sent home over the summer. Students if you brought it to school please turn it in to your period one teacher. Teachers if students turn applications in to you please return them to the Title One office as soon as possible. We need your support this year to meet our goal of 85%.
STUDENTS
ID cards – Seniors & Juniors who have not taken their NEW ID pictures can do so this week in the library during lunch.Sophomores & Freshman’s will have to wait until next week. You will need your ID card for all school activities and exams.
Juniors/Sophomores/Freshmen – The PSAT will be given at school during school hours on Wednesday, October 14th.All interested Juniors & Freshmen need to sign up in the College Office.All Sophomores are automatically scheduled to take the exam.
College Visits – Please visit our school website, www.vannuyshs.org to see what colleges will be sending their representatives to visit us.You will need to sign up to see them in the College Office with Ms. Charlton.
Message Board – A new message board is available for student clubs to post and announce upcoming events.Submit all postings to Mrs. Hamilton for her seal of approval.Items posted without her approval will be taken down and kindly placed in a trashcan.
FACULTY SECTION
Teacher Grants – Fedco grants of $500-$1000 per teacher.To apply download Word application at calfund.org/fedco and submit electronic applications to fedcofund@ccf-la.org.Due October 16, 2009.
Textbook Distribution – If you have not received your textbooks, please check with your department chairs first then go see Cynthia in the textbook room.Priority will be to get all classrooms fitted with textbooks that are Williams approved.
BTSA – Both Year 1 and Year 2 BTSA participants must attend an orientation at the beginning of each year in BTSA.Registration for new Year 1 BTSA participants is a two-step process.They need to (1) register with the State of California BTSA program and (2) register to attend a Year 1 Orientation with the LAUSD BTSA Induction program.Online registration for new participants is now available at the LAUSD BTSA website (http://acts.lausd.net/BTSA/).
All continuing Year 2 BTSA Participants must also register to attend a BTSA Year 2 Orientation.Registration for the Year 2 Orientations is available online now at http://acts.lausd.net/BTSA/.
SENIORS
Senior Packages - Senior Packages on sale in the Student Store.
Remember SAT and/or ACT – must be taken at least six weeks before the deadline for scores to be submitted to colleges.SAT tests are scheduled for October 3rd.The deadline for regular registration has been extended to September 24th for FEE WAIVERS only.Go see Ms. Charlton in the Counseling Office for questions.Visit www.collegeboard.com.
Now is the time to make a list of test names, dates, fees, registration deadlines, and deadlines for college admissions and financial aid applications.Visit the College Office for details.
