First Break is
an internet-based job board exclusively for LAUSD students. 

Procedure:

Go to: http://firstbreak.lausd.net/
Click on the Job Search button.
Enter the name of the city where you want to work.
Click on “details” for any job you may be interested in.
Write down the job number and bring it to Mrs. Giller in the Career Center, room 119B, to get the contact and company information.

Students applying for jobs through First Break need to do the following:

Bring a resume or portfolio to the interview.
Be on time.
Go alone.
Walk with confidence by standing up straight and sit up without slouching.
Learn something about the company.
Have a black or blue pen to complete paperwork.
Write legibly.
Dress in clean, ironed business attire during the application and interview process.
    Young men should wear a button down shirt and dress pants that properly fit your        waist size. 
    Young ladies should wear a dress, skirt, or slacks with a blouse that is not          
    revealing.  Do not wear excessive or weird make-up.
Be clean.
Follow the application procedure for each job listing.
Do not chew gum, have food, or a drink with you.
Keep your hands out of your pockets.
Smile.
Look the interviewer in the eyes.
Use proper English.
Speak clearly and to be easily understood.
Do not discuss personal problems.
Thank the interviewer.
Send the interviewer a Thank You letter.
