Van Nuys Students Are Expected To: - Attend school every day and be on time ot all classes.
- Treat others and youself with respect and dignity.
- Report to the dean if you ever have a problem with another student.
- Cooperate fully and work to the best of your ability.
- Keep our campus clean by disposing of litter properly.
- Take care of all books and equipment.
- Have your school ID at all times while on campus.
- Get a hall pass if you are sent from class for any reason.
- Bring a note from home if you must leave school early or when returning to school from an absence.
Van Nuys Students may not: - Wear clothing that is vulgar or display's profanity.
- Wear or openly possess non-Van Nuys High School hats.
- Possess beepers.
- Wear bare-midriff tops or other revealing styles.
- Operate or openly possess radios or walk-mans.
- Possess cigarettes, matches, spray paint, or markers.
- Display any clothing, items, or mannerisms associated with gangs, taggers, crews, posses, or any non-school clubs. This includes pants that are oversized or below the waist, long shorts with high socks, belt buckles with lettering, bandannas, rags, or chains.
Consequences: - Thirty to ninety minutes of detention will be assigned for tardiness, misbehavior, leaving class without a hall pass, or failing ot bring school ID.
- Prohibited items will be confiscated.
- Suspension will result from infractions such as defianc, failing to serve detention, making statements that are sexist or racist, damagaing school property, or possession of matches, lighters, tobacco, fireworks, marking pens, or spray cans.
- Suspension, citation, arrest, opportunity transfer, or/and expulsion will result from infractions such as threats, fighting, possession of alcohol or illegal drugs, gambling, truancy, gang activity, smoking, vandalism, theft, possession of stolen property, commission of a criminal act, or possession of a weapon or any item that could be used as a weapon. Possession of a gun will cause arrest, suspension, and expulsion.
